Land Acknowledgment

We acknowledge that we are gathered here on sacred land, on the territories of the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations, the Seneca and the Mississaugas of New Credit.

This land is subject to the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement between the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Confederacy of the Anishnaabek and allied nations. The Dish with One Spoon Covenant demonstrates our collective responsibility to care for, and share, the land and its resources.

We are here because this land was, and is, occupied. It is important for us to recognize this colonial history and present, to respect Indigenous Elders and Ancestors and the stewards of this land, honour our responsibilities to the land, and recognize that we are all treaty people.
